Mom Arrested for Trying to Sell Baby for $7,000

By Dawn in Investigations, Locate Investigations, Missing Children, Missing Persons Investigations, MSI Detective Services, Private Investigator at December 6th, 2011 | No comments

What is the cost for a black market baby these days? Apparently, for a Miami mother, $7,000 was enough for the sale of her eight-month old son.

Kenia Quiala Bosque, 30, was arrested Sunday after an investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement. She was charged with adoption violation.

Bosque had arranged to meet a Monroe County man in Miami on Saturday to exchange the child for the money.

When the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about the transaction, the FDLE arranged to have an undercover agent be at the baby handoff. Authorities said the FDLE has four recorded conversations with her and the undercover officer.

Bosque failed to show up for the exchange. Fearing for the child’s safety and well-being, deputies and agents went to her home and had enough evidence to make an arrest, authorities said.

Bosque was booked into Miami-Dade County jail and was being held on $5,000 bond on Monday.

Her two other children were placed in the custody of relatives, authorities said.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle called the situation “a sign of the times,” when referring to why Bosque may have tried to sell her child.

I know people are desperate in these tough economic times and many have had to sell personal belongings to pay the rent - but selling your own child – that is beyond comprehension. Had this mother been successful in selling her baby, I believe it would have only been a matter of time before family members intervened and tried to locate the missing child. Did this woman think no one would notice she was short one child?

Police Investigating Ex-Fiance in Missing Orlando Woman Case

By Dawn in Investigations, Lie Detection, Locate Investigations, Missing Persons, Missing Persons Investigations, MSI Detective Services at November 30th, 2011 | No comments

Michelle Parker, 33, of Orlando was last seen Nov. 17. She has been missing since that day. It was the day a previously taped episode of “The People’s Court” aired of the case between her and 40-year-old Dale Smith, her ex-fiance. “The People’s Court” episode involved a dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring.

Parker’s abandoned black Hummer was found in an apartment complex off Vineland Road in west Orlando. Parker is a mother of three children.

Parker and Smith are the parents of 3-year-old twins.  She also has an 11-year-old child from a previous relationship.

The only clue, other than the abandoned vehicle, is Parker’s cell phone. Family members said Parker’s brother sent her a text message asking where she was and the reply came back “Waterford.” However, investigators said cell tower records indicated that Parker was never near Waterford.

Chief Paul Rooney said at a news conference Monday that Parker’s ex-fiance, Dale Smith, is being investigated. Smith has refused to take a polygraph test. Police said Parker had a history of violence in her relationship with her ex-fiance. Read the full article »

Newborn Found in Bag in Schaumburg, IL Church Parking Lot

By Dawn in Illinois, Investigations, Locate Investigations, Missing Persons, Missing Persons Investigations, MSI Detective Services, Private Investigator at October 27th, 2011 | No comments

This is an interesting story because this baby was actually left on the top of one of our MSI Detective Investigator’s car. I spoke with the investigator, who wishes to remain anonymous, but was able to get some personal details on this story. I will call him John.

John had just attended his parent’s church for the first time that day - Gospel Presbyterian Church in Schaumburg, IL. When he returned to his car, he found a reusable, canvas bag hanging from his driver’s side mirror. He and his sister opened the bag, but could only see towels and a teddy bear and didn’t want to rifle through somone else’s bag. John brought the bag to the church’s lost and found.

About two hours later, John received a call from the church asking him to return and informing him the police wanted to talk to him about the bag he turned in. When John arrived back at the church, he learned that at some point church members and staff heard a baby crying, but they could not determine where the cries were coming from. Finally, they realized the cries were coming from the bag. They found a 7-pound baby girl of Asian ethnicity tucked underneath the teddy bear and towel, Schaumburg police said.

The baby, a few days old and in good health, according to police, was transported to a local hospital for observation. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services will take custody of her once she has been released.

Another twist in this story is that John’s sister happens to be a sponsor for an orphanage. His sister has been wanting to sponsor a foster child. She is currently working with DCFS to try and make this happen with the baby she and her brother found. I wish her the best of luck and hope she is able to take care of this baby as she now feels a sense of obligation and attachment to the child, which is understandable. Read the full article »

Natalee Holloway Could Soon Be Declared Dead

By Dawn in Locate Investigations, Missing Persons, Missing Persons Investigations, MSI Detective Services at September 28th, 2011 | No comments

A judge ruled Friday that Natalee Holloway’s father has met the legal presumption of her death and now it’s up to someone to prove she did not die six years ago on a high school graduation trip to Aruba.

Jefferson County’s probate judge rejected a request by Dave Holloway’s ex-wife, Beth Holloway, not to proceed with steps to declare their oldest child dead. The judge’s ruling Friday afternoon is the first of two rulings necessary for a declaration of death. The second could come in early 2012.

In a hearing, Dave Holloway became teary eyed and his voice cracked as he asked Probate Judge Alan King to bring legal closure to the case.

Natalee was last seen leaving a bar on the Caribbean island about 1:30 a.m. on May 30, 2005 before she went missing.

Beth Holloway did not attend because she was in California for a speech. Her attorney, Charlie DeBardeleben, said, she was “horrified” by her ex-husband’s efforts and she doesn’t want her oldest child declared dead.

“There is always a glimmer of hope, especially when there is no hard evidence she is dead,” the lawyer said.

The next step is to run legal notices in a newspaper to allow anyone to come forward with evidence that Natalee Holloway is alive at age 24. If no one does, the judge would hold another hearing in about three months, where he could issue a final order of death.

The Holloways divorced in 1993. Natalee Holloway was raised by her mother in Mountain Brook, a wealthy Birmingham suburb, and spent every other weekend with her father, an insurance agent in Meridian, Miss.
