A missing 9-year-old Indiana girl, Aliahna Lemmon, was found dead on Monday night. She had been reported missing on Friday evening. The details of her death are incredibly gruesome.

The neighbor who had been watching Aliahna, 39-year-old Mike Plumadore, was interviewed by police and taken into custody at 9 p.m. and charged with murder on Monday night. Plumadore had been watching Aliahna and her sisters before she was reported missing. Plumadore told investigators on Monday where the girl’s body could be found.

Police say Plumadore bludgeoned Aliahna with a brick, then dismembered her with a hacksaw.

After beating Aliahna Lemmon to death last Thursday, Michael Plumadore told police he stuffed her body into trash bags and hid her in his freezer, according to an affidavit filed by the Allen County sheriff’s department. Plumadore said he later chopped up her body, stuffed her remains into freezer bags and hid some at his trailer and some at a nearby business.

No active search was done Sunday for Aliahna, though more than 100 emergency workers searched for her Saturday around the mobile home park where she and Plumadore lived. Allen County sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel said the same size search could not be sustained because of the Christmas holiday.

Although it was later learned that Aliahna was already dead by Sunday, it is still surprising that a massive search for a child did not continue despite the holiday.

Aliahna and her sisters were staying with Plumadore because their mother had been sick with the flu and Aliahna’s stepfather works at night and sleeps during the day. Plumadore told authorities that he left the three girls in his mobile home about 6 a.m. Friday and went to a gas station about a mile away to buy a cigar. Authorities have said the store’s surveillance video shows him there about that time. “I had dead-bolted the door,” he said. “When I got back, all the girls was here.”

He said he smoked his cigar and went back to sleep, then woke up about 10 a.m. when Aliahna’s mother called. After that call, he realized the door to the home was unlocked and that Aliahna was gone. He said Aliahna’s 6-year-old sisters told him Aliahna had left with her mother. Plumadore said it wasn’t until he talked with Aliahna’s mother about 8:30 p.m. that they realized she was missing and police were notified.

Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries said Plumadore was arrested after being interviewed by detectives for several hours Monday — and was also questioned Friday and Saturday.

On Monday, FBI agents descended on the rundown mobile home park where Aliahna lived and was last seen.

The mobile home park in Fort Wayne is a known haven for registered sex offenders. According to a state website, 15 registered sex offenders live at the mobile home park. That’s an alarming number given that the park only has about two dozen homes on its land. Plumadore is not on Indiana’s registered sex offenders list; however, he has a criminal record in Florida and North Carolina that includes convictions for trespassing and assault.

Given the nature of this gruesome crime, it makes you wonder what other crimes he has committed, but was never caught. It seems like a giant leap from trespassing and assault to murder.

Kenia Quiala Bosque, 30, was arrested Sunday after an investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement. She was charged with adoption violation.

Bosque had arranged to meet a Monroe County man in Miami on Saturday to exchange the child for the money.

When the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about the transaction, the FDLE arranged to have an undercover agent be at the baby handoff. Authorities said the FDLE has four recorded conversations with her and the undercover officer.

Bosque failed to show up for the exchange. Fearing for the child’s safety and well-being, deputies and agents went to her home and had enough evidence to make an arrest, authorities said.

Bosque was booked into Miami-Dade County jail and was being held on $5,000 bond on Monday.

Her two other children were placed in the custody of relatives, authorities said.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle called the situation “a sign of the times,” when referring to why Bosque may have tried to sell her child.

I know people are desperate in these tough economic times and many have had to sell personal belongings to pay the rent - but selling your own child – that is beyond comprehension. Had this mother been successful in selling her baby, I believe it would have only been a matter of time before family members intervened and tried to locate the missing child. Did this woman think no one would notice she was short one child?

The 19-year-old, who identified himself as Robert Terrezas, had indicated that he could be the missing child and allowed investigators to take a DNA sample on Thursday.

An analysis on the sample confirmed he was not the missing boy, Robbie Romero, Santa Fe police officials said at a press conference Friday.

“The missing person case of Robbie Romero remains open,” Police Chief Ray Rael said.

The story unfolded Wednesday evening when Terrezas was talking to a friend, Ricky Romero, who is a brother of Robbie Romero, according to media reports.

Terrezas told Ricky that he also used the name Robert Romero and had a hard time remembering his childhood.

Ricky Romero rushed home and told his mother, Evelyn, who called police.

“I can see the resemblance and his mannerisms but I wonder if that’s me just wanting it so bad, him being alive and well,” Evelyn Romero told KOB on Thursday.

Rael said Evelyn Romero was informed of the DNA results just before Friday’s press conference.

Police have said that if the case turns out to be a false report, the teen will not be prosecuted for any wrongdoing since Terrezas didn’t approach police — they approached him.

Santa Fe police have treated Robbie Romero’s disappearance in 2000 as a homicide, but no one was ever arrested in the case and his body was never found.

Robbie Romero’s older brother, Ronnie, was suspected but never charged. Ronnie Romero died of a heroin overdose in prison on unrelated charges in 2009.

Robbie Terrezas’ mother, Yolanda Armendariz, told KOB there is no way her son is Robbie Romero.

“This is my son, this is my son,” Armendariz said. “Friends call my son Robert Romero because they have the same face.”

Joshua Robb appeared to be in good condition when search and rescue workers found him about a mile from the school he ran away from Monday.

Joshua was given food and water by search and rescue workers until a medic could be lowered by helicopter to assess his health and he is airlifted out of the area.

About 60 searchers from four counties, aided by dogs and helicopters, scoured the mountain area in the search, playing recorded music and his father’s voice in hopes of luring him to safety.

The boy was dressed only in a polo shirt, shorts and sandals — and it was a cold night. There was also a heavy rain storm with lightening in the area on Tuesday morning.

It was feared that the boy, who has little speech ability, might not respond to a stranger’s voice or to public address calls from a helicopter, so searchers set up systems at some locations to play his father’s voice along with his favorite country and heavy metal music, including songs by Ozzy Osbourne. It it not clear whether the musical measures resulted in Joshua’s rescue.

Joshua squeezed between the bars of a metal playground fence at Grandview Elementary School on Monday morning, said John Elderkin, director for special services at the school. Several minutes later, a playground aide noticed he was missing. A teacher checked classrooms, but the boy had vanished and authorities were notified.

Joshua is prone to running away and in previous years the school has placed a tether on him when he is escorted between classrooms, Elderkin said. However, the boy had not run away in the three weeks since the new school year began.

His father, Ron Robb, said the boy had been taken into protective custody last month, and he strongly suspects he ran away from school to find his parents. “He’s always been a flight risk,” said Robb.

Robb said the family was forced out of their home last month by a foreclosure proceeding. He told NBC Los Angeles that a real estate agent called government officials after noticing that the boy had been restrained.

“We had to lightly tether him while we were moving stuff out of our house. We are quite sure the reason he escaped was because he was trying to look for mom and dad.
